I've personally not found this difficult. Unless perhaps you're dealing very large volumes of mail and overhead of SpamAssassin is an issue. Mail volume in 10s of thousands/day on a low end VPS has been no problem for me.

I'm curious, why run 4 disks in RAID6 instead of RAID10? You loose two disks worth of capacity to RAID in either case, but with RAID6 there's also parity overhead, slower recovery, slower performance, especially in degraded mode?

We use Postini at work and it is terrible. Normal Gmail filters are much better. I hear Google is replacing Postini with something they developed themselves.

I may be wrong, but I believe IMAP, the protocol, just defines how IMAP clients/servers should issue and respond to search commands, but doesn't deal with mail indexing and things like that. Cyrus IMAP, which I use, provides Squat

Linux user for 15 years, Debian/Ubuntu exclusively for the past 7 or so. IMO, it's without question that the Desktop experience is better every year, now to a point where it just works 99.9% of the time (in my experience, anyway).
