Apple's iCloud servers for Chinese users are located in China, run by a Chinese tech service provider and provides them with the keys - as stipulated by the Chinese government. Of course the government has access to the data.

If you're just doing freelance work, I find direct deposit works best. Many clients don't use credit card for large amounts because of fees, which you'll also incur for most online payment systems

By "similar service", do you mean direct competition? If so, I'd stick with what you're doing (esp if it's paying some bills) - it's obviously got traction. And you can't beat being your own boss.
