The article mentions Chrome OS Flex, which is a version that doesn't require the Google security chip so it runs on a regular Intel PC. That is "de-Googled" I suppose, though I am not sure about the security implications that

The corners appear as triangles in the figure. I counted all the triangles I could find and was confused because I only saw 7. But then I realized the 8th is around the outside of the whole figure!
