I signed up and saw they only allowed a single subdomain for DDNS, with docs saying to contact support if you needed more. I emailed asking for just 1 more subdomain and support told me that for my usecase I should just use CloudFlare. So I

I wish they had a few different options with better specs. Or maybe a shell with the case/fan/mobo etc.. where you can just add CPU/GPU/RAM. I'd love that, and would be willing to pay extra to get something a bit mo

Let me just for one second give them the benefit of the doubt. Could the $45 be a way to pay for some extra manual screening? Maybe? Or do they not deserve any benefit of the doubt.

this is pretty surprising. Didn't they spent a fortune on the camera tech for Amazon Go?

There are just fewer highly polished Android apps vs iOS apps, and that's why I switched to iOS. I bought JuiceSSH years ago on Android and it worked great, but I agree it's degraded, and I couldn't find an equivalent I liked

I have a super high opinion of Valve. Sure, they have loot crates. But sensible people don't buy them. I guess you could blame them for having it in the first place. That's fair I guess. But I've never for a second considered

yes. It's terrible. I can't believe it's taken this long to still be awful. The mix of Java. The awful UI. If you're on Mac/Windows, you should buy Office. And if you're on Linux, you should use OnlyOffice, or

Oh no. Did I miss something? Did Zed get a bunch of unnecessary funding that will force them to do some subscription we'll all hate?

From the specs it's very annoying this uses a mini-HDMI. There's room for a full HDMI port, and it's such a waste. We all have dozens of HDMI cables at home, but zero mini-HDMI.

I'm sure it was a simple mistake. The fact that Immich competes with Google Photos has nothing to do with it.

I interviewed in 2015. The recruiter told me to read the Amazon Leadership Principles, but I thought it was ridiculous to prep for something so specific to a single company, especially as I was interviewing at other companies too. I got the

I've worked there since 2015, and this simply isn't true. There's a lot wrong with AWS (and it's got a lot worse in the last 3 years), but there's also a lot right, and there are some really, really smart people the

title is 'Self hosting 10TB IN S3.' Yes, it's obvious, but it's a terrible title. I don't really get the point. It's trivial to have storage however you want an shove the S3 API on top.

I remember when Google broke 911 calling, and decided it was ok to wait for the next maintenance patch to fix it. People could have died, but Google just couldn't hurry up and release an emergency patch.

Working at a company that did the same thing earlier, it's incredibly frustrating. This would have made sense when the company was all at one site, but over the last 5 years my company (and microsoft) have massively expanded. So now I

I think you're missing his point. If you tightened DRM, would those customers that ran multiple copies pay for multiple licenses? Fighting piracy is generally not worth it. Those people would never pay, so you're fighting to stop

It does look like ST is lost here. They don't know where to go next. But I do like their Sublime Merge product. It's really good.

Dropbox Storage is a MUCH easier problem to solve than S3. They don't have the mix of high perf vs cold backup storage, so design is much, much simpler.

How do you plan to solve sync (bookmarks, history etc..) when going cross platform? iCloud makes things easy when it's just Mac/iOS, but that won't work for Linux. I use Linux at home, Mac at work, and have an iPhone, and ver

I get it, but that's a hurdle for a lot of people. If someone is using this just once, they don't want to download an app. This feels like it will take convincing.
