AFAIK, dark mode can save energy on OLED based screens (due to pixels being completely turned off) but not on LCD-based screens. However, lowering brightness should probably always lower energy usage.

I always think that it's only a matter of time before some company with vast capital (looking at you Apple) finds their own way to set up a city/country with their own ecosystem (healthcare, transport etc.), with less bureaucracy
