   The author seems to be defensive, trying to justify the status quo. I would be interested what the real reasons are. Why have most other Microsoft products moved to 64bit but VS was hesitant from the beginning?

   Besides the monetary consideration (which appears to be the main argument), there is also an ethical one. Maybe fewer people care about ethics but its important to bring that into the mix.

   I think its similar in other areas, like storage... Lots of former Microsoft people at FB. Wondering how that impacted their culture, etc. over the last 3-5 years. They just recently opened a brand new office in Seattle also AFAIK.

   you can have local temp tables, global temp tables as well as indexed views. always depends on what you want to accomplish.
