I haven't heard of a 'do not port' instruction, but you can call T-Mobile and add an additional password that will be required before customer service will service your account.

Legally there is no such thing as 'guaranteed entry' to the US except for citizens. Even possessing a visa doesn't guarantee entry.

HERE is nice because you can download complete countries to work offline. Google Maps only lets you select a rectangular area and limits it size to a much smaller area.

Fingerprint readers seem to solve that problem. Booting the phone requires the secure password, but after that a fingerprint will suffice until the phone is powered off or left locked for 24 hours.

VR headsets greatly benefit from a higher resolution. Even the 2K display on the late model Samsung phones produce low resolution when paired with a Gear VR. Supposedly this won't be resolved until 8k or even 16k mobile displays.
