Part of it probably is hypnagogia though I was so alert that it did not feel like that normal transition to sleep. It felt more like I had meditated myself into a lucid dream. There were some stray thoughts but none of that cloudy brain fog

Strangely I did not have a strong internal monologue when I was young. My thoughts were mostly "visual" unless reading. It is more 50/50 now, but I still "see" most of what I think/read if that makes sense.
