So, I didn't read the article but if these employees didn't want to be replaced by API they could theoretically be helping the AI team find weaknesses in system and improve the system even more quickly.

I would say that we as CS people could learn from physics but when name things God Particle... Arguably to grab headlines I wonder about the Physics world... Then again I guess things like funding and getting people interested are important

I have never understood the need in the Computer field or other fields for that matter to make unnecessary and incorrect analogies to physics. It is silly and I have to look past this as many things have worth where the author does this as

A decent of percentage of people get on facebook primarily to argue and that increases these session time for these users. Probably wouldn't be beneficial to FB but probably to people.

Good article however can't say that for all the articles on Cosmos Magazine. Think many articles are highly speculative and border on Pseudo Science.
