Out of curiosity, what response time do you expect on a page like that? And what level of detail? I'd much rather have their team focus on fixing this as fast as possible than trying to update that dashboard in the first 5 minutes.

I'm not sure what I said conflicts with that. If we made access to prepaid debit cards dead simple (i.e. going to a bank and getting a debit card for the equivalent amount of cash) easy for small amounts, then they would not only get a

This legislation should really be about making this process free and easy rather than punishing stores for being lean.

This strikes me as ridiculous and heavy-handed. We should focus on finding a way to provide vulnerable groups a way to pay at cashless stores rather than increasing the overhead of operating a business (accepting cash, maintaining change, c

My experience was different: had my top case replaced in < 24 hours and zero issues getting them to do it.

This is similar to a realization I had the other day: for many people collecting things is less about the objects and more about the memories and nostalgia and associated with those objects. I have been having a lot of "identity"

> Kill vibration. I did this a while ago. What happened was I ended up checking my phone significantly more due to FOMO. Hiding your phone is a better solution, since it's more out of sight.

This seems like it might have been a bug. Yesterday I saw this issue on Chrome + Linux and am now able to log in.

My only guess is that large companies suffer from too much bureaucracy when it comes to naming. As a result, you'll never get a phenomenal name, but you also won't get a really bad name either. Odds are you'll get something w

I wonder if it would be helpful to describe the indentation level you are on: e.g: def method_here(value): # Indentation level 0 x = 10 # Level 1 y = 5 # Level 1 if x == value # Level 1 print 'x!' # Level 2

My plan right now is to rent in the city, buy a cabin or getaway house upstate for 200k and move there when I get older. Hard part is just finding somewhere that doesn't suck.

Agreed. There's something fundamentally different about contacting someone via a video conference versus the organic nature of a quick chat about something. This puts remote workers behind quite a ways. My old team was partially locate

Anecdotally, I've found that it works much better for me if I only have notifications on for apps I care about and judiciously turn the rest off. I then leave my phone on vibrate because turning it on silent always lead to me wondering

It would be cool to start seeing more of this from other companies. Also, I wonder if anyone has done an extensive cost-benefit analysis of using OCaml instead of a more common language. It seems like the training and cost of always needing

I didn't hate Solo, but it's really disappointing that Disney is throwing away a whole bunch of ridiculously good IP. One example is the Knights of the Eternal Empire trailer ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkgzXp

I had the opportunity to sit down with Warren Miller and a few others 7 or 8 years ago for dinner. He was an all-around nice guy. Sad to see him go, but at 93 he definitely lived a full life.

This is pretty awesome. Kudos to the author. It's cool to see the thought process around designing for clarity instead of purely simplicity on high-impact systems like this.
