Perhaps it was a matter of me not paying enough attention, but it seemed like Google degraded slowly over time, and then suddenly all-at-once. Or in other words, it seems like its become unusable for me entirely within the past year.

My point was more an attempt to point at an empathetic response as a possibility. "don't start abusing the drug in the first place", to me, felt like a way to dismiss the reality that it can be really easy to fall into addict

We all have addictions. For some it is substances, other relationships, power, sex, gambling, food, etc. What if yours suddenly became really difficult to manage within the societal-framework-du-jour? Just don't start doing it?

Sure, I was referring to the UI of the OS itself. I had the device about 3-4 months ago so perhaps it has been improved, but it was pretty janky in my experience at the time. It would often outright freeze on me for 10-20 seconds at a time.

Fully agree. Imo, it is up to everyone to find their own balance within their own lived experience. Maybe this Jarred person is doing what works in their own case, and I hope its working well.

I returned mine for two reasons: 1. The UI is horrendously slow/laggy/crashy. 2. It is yet another disposable device with a battery that cannot be easily replaced[1], which I consider to be unconscionable. Otherwise, I liked it. [
