unfortunately, all I can say is....It took this long? I love cyanogen, and have loaded custom roms for years with it, but this was really a doomed from the start adventure....

office365 is the primary alternative. There are other smaller hosted exchange environments that are either resellers, or that have their own model. It really depends on what you need.
