I don't have any experience with vim or other alternatives, but after reading that article or seems like kakoune is way better in practice. I wonder why Lapce didn't go with "object -> verb".

It sounds like Serenade.ai would be more useful to you. It is more of a complete product, with the ability to add custom commands on top of it. Plus it's open source. I'm not trying to steal the spotlight from Talon/Cursorles
