   My 1998 Ram with 12 valve 5.9L Cummins then... Is killing us all, loudly. Gets 25mpg on the highway though.

   I think you're conflating the notion of value and productivity. I'd argue value is far more subjective than productivity is. i.e. Facebook is maybe worth $200 billion today, but with a change in the market may only be worth $100
