Not OP but I don’t think DoQ is very interesting. DoH is nice because it blends in with HTTPS. Both do the protocol level things to avoid connection handshakes. The HTTP overhead isn’t that much really. DoT is more complex than you’d imagin

The chain of trust always has a software layer. I don’t believe what you want is possible. I find the bank talking point strange, why are they special, are they even targeted more. It just feels like a boogeyman “think of your money!”

Those issues are typically from the decoding libraries you choose. Which could even be ffmpeg if you wish. GStreamer just provides a nice high level API.

They can’t modify webkit on ios. They also don’t appear to contribute upstream. So it’s just not supported.

It doesn’t mean anything for desktop users, it’s just a new standard that could have wider support than VAAPI since it’s part of Vulkan. Mostly embedded devices lacking VAAPI support today, though nvidia requires a third party implementatio

Youtube artificially limits the resolution, on mine if you cast the exact same video it doesn’t impose that limit and works fine.

While iOS doesn’t do this at the OS level I’ve never seen an app that didn’t have these options. I assumed it’s required by Apple.

This oversimplifies reality. Fedora has a community and actively makes decisions RHEL has no interest in. But yes they also help with testing many things.

In my personal experience macOS is fine but updates are often buggy or regress performance. Linux has just been the more polished option. Plus it just has a nicer desktop and apps.
