You might be reading the anti-corporate sentiment into that comment. It seems more directed towards the public space of Twitter and Facebook where corporations have enough rope to hang themselves in the town square.

Using a third party app like Infinity for Reddit lets me subscribe to subreddits anonymously. Reddit has been read-only for me since the Digg migration so I lose nothing and give nothing.

Yah, i don't expect everyone to run their own server but luckily joinmastodon.org walks anyone through the process of finding a smaller instance.

I suggest you find a smaller instance to join to have a more cultivated feed. I'm the only user on my instance so everything I see is there because I subscribed to it.

GitLab supported Mermaid.js rendering for a while but last I checked that was broken. That showed the most promise for a practical use of UML. I have no idea what that article is trying to get at about multi-dimensional diagrams. I can make

Platforms that stick to chronological order are growing without the influence of this strategy. Mastodon has been doing very well by simply offering the Email of social media.

Signal is the bare minimum and can run along side Element and ActivityPub just fine. If you want to avoid Google Play-Services then Element and ActivityPub are much easier to use.

It looks like Snikket is trying to pull together the popular opensource implementations of XMPP ecosystem as one product. It would be a lot easier to tell people to connect to a Snikket server for their Snikket messenger rather than Element
