I suspect most of that figure is in machine time, but otherwise they pay engineers a lot and Apple likewise occupies a non-trivial % of all the commercial real estate in Cupertino, employees security guards, other staff, etc. These numbers

It’s more how it sits in a mix so well, somehow it gives room for your bass drum, some pads, leads, and it doesn’t interfere with any of them. Usually that’s really hard to do perfectly and lately bass just magically stays in its own lane.

Arithmetic logic is *very much* a sought after goal for LLM. The “intended features” of any sufficiently advanced technology always move forward. GPT, Bard, etc all want to nail that issue and are dumping cash into it.
