A better solution is to just have a different physical connector so it's obvious at a glance if you have the correct cables. But that: involves carrying another cable, and kind of defeats the purpose of a unifying connector.

You should be using steno or some kind of briefing system. I hang out in the plover discord and bunch of the people there are over 150 on a slow day. Just need to ditch character based input, it's not easy though.
