It allows them to keep the walled garden intact. A 3rd party app marketplace would need to install apps to the device and would require a different permissions model to anything available on the App Store today.

This seems likely to be the case. Perhaps there is a way to design a test such that it measures how quickly one can become capable in some informal "programming language" designed specifically for said test?

This sounds right on in my experience, though I would say a truly good UX designer should know the usability of what they're designing in Figma and understand those limitations enough to work with a developer during the design process

If they're really doing this (and I don't particularly doubt it) someone should script up a little bot to search for domain names that are likely to trigger the mechanism. Find word clouds around some of the newer domains like .qu

I'm interested in why you consider Messages a social network? To me, Messages is an iteration on MMS, analogous to the transition from SMS to MMS. Messages can only be used by Apple customers, but this is not indicative of a social net

On iOS it takes a single TouchID auth and a few message prompts to sign up for a recurring subscription - you won't ever be asked for payment again. I'm certain Android is similarly streamlined.
