Temporary until its not. It's the new normal, get used to it. The MAG7 isn't pumping all their FCF + new debt issuance into DC's just for fun. The world is seemingly moving into a era where compute is becoming expensive and s

Sad part is that even though SpaceX / Elon has been very clear about expected outcomes it's still used against them.

Exactly, and especially SV and the US has seemingly been almost entirely locked down by Indians.

At some point, everyone on Facebook realized almost at the same time, that it was no longer a place to share, but a place to compete. Then everyone basically stopped sharing and started curating.

This is what "ESG" is in practice. Its insanity. Give powers to idiots and they will come up with stuff like this.

Trumps Playbook will actually work, so MAGA will get results. Tariffs will force productivity and salaries higher (and prices), then automation which is the main driver of productivity will kick in which lowers prices of goods again. Global

Seems to me that this is just another level of throwing compute at the problem. Same way programs was way more efficient before and now they are "bloated" with packages, abstractions, slow implementations of algos and scaffolding.

Margin Call hits the spot without becoming overly pompous like The Big Short. Its story is centered around Goldman Sachs. And make no mistake Wall Street gambles full well knowing that the government will save them - Steve Bannon was right

LK-99? The room temperature superconductor made by some guys in a small lab in Korea after 20 years of attempts - who doesn't want that to be real. Won´t say people fell for it though it was just the current happening at the time.

As a kid of the late 90s i feel like it was kinda unfair. Back in the day (70s(?)80s) computers shipped with the programming language manual. All I got was a CDROM of ENCARTA and a slip to mail in for a restore set of MS DOS / WIN 3.1

Remember we used to have Aoe2 sessions on LANS when we were kids back in the 00s and like 1 in 3 games just crashed after everyone had played for like 2-3 hours. In a way it was even better because then nobody had to loose, and everyone bel

Multiple sea landings, but I guess you'd argue those don't count since the vehicles tip over in water and explode. Moving barges in the sea should qualify though.

LLMs are fundamentally a new paradigm, it just isn't distributed yet. It's not like the web suddenly was just there, it came slow at first, then everywhere at once, the money came even later.

It's ironic that Chamath Palihapitiya who was responsible for growth at Facebook previously was the VP/GM for ICQ @AOL. ICQ was so ubiquitous back in the day, and then lost it all.

Apple intelligence really is a dud and the fact that Siri still is utterly useless for anything other than basic timers is just hard to fathom. "AI" is pretty much DOA as far as I am concerned. But hey, they got me to upgrade, so
