In some schools they require an iPad for the ebook app that schools use for books and other things. It does not run on the PC. So Apple has a lock-in there. People are stopping buying PCs for mobile devices like smart phones and tablets.

I misread it as UI chip, as in it handles the User Interface and frees up the CPU for other things. But it is the U1 chip instead.

Atari like Commodore didn't market their new systems that much. It was mostly magazines and word of mouth. At least in the USA it was that way. Still they both controlled the home computer market in the 8 bit areas.
