I've been trying to rebuild my back deck this summer. I've wasted so much material, cut myself several times, and I was stung by a paper wasp, it has not been going well so far.

I'd assume there's better options, but I've worked a lot with cesium. Even it has some interesting visualizations, textures, even weather you can add with it. Anything that could make it feel more immersive would just be cool

This is a fun idea and interesting implementation. I know there's only so much an api can give you, but I'd love to see anything that gives more information or visuals of the surroundings.

I'm always wondering how long it will take for popular sentiment to finally shift. So many years of things like Blinky the fish in the Simpsons really did a number on our shared consciousness.

I never thought about the smell. Does it smell strong because of it's composition or because the vacuum of space has a strange effect on it? Like the particulates not dispersing enough?

It's hard to argue against that. I suppose it's not that they even exist, it's just the unreasonable amount they profit on the items. If it's purely because they cannot attain items another way, they markup should be mor

Still waiting on anything to be done about rent to own businesses. The businesses that rely solely on exploiting the people in a bad position bother me so much, they should at least have some kind of limits on their usury.

It seems likely much more effort will go into evaluating the failure than went into designing this submersible. It would be interesting to know how much more.

This reminds me of how long it took me to notice a pattern in my relationships. When I look back, it's so obvious that I was picking a certain kind of person, and behaving in a certain kind of way, that would lead to the same conclusio

Do you think this is because no one was profiting from your message board community? I'm sure there's several factors, but it takes people who love something to build a presence without motivation for profit.

I guess my issue is that I'm not all that interested in SETI. It would obviously be amazing if we find other life, and I'm not against funding or people searching. I just think there is plenty to investigate and learn just by stud

It's a fair question, and I'm not educated on the subject enough to provide an opinion. Like I said, I'd just heard about this, so I'm not aware how much has gone into it. If it's hitting the figures you're tal

My favorite is the question headlines. Is Mexico in talks with the US about drug cartels? Are you chicken nuggets covered in covid-19? Is Trump ritualistically sacrificing children in the oval office? They're leaving it up in the air,

Many of the people here on HN probably work at much larger corporations than I, so my take might be different. But what I have noticed is a severe lack of interest in hiring UI/UX people. Earlier in my career I had access to at least o

I recall Hubble often being fodder for late night hosts and other media, but we don't even think about it now that it's proved it's worth many times over. It changed the narrative once it was operational.

I've heard that part of the motivation for the escalation of opiate strength (fentanyl and carfentanil) is because so many people have begun seeing success with these new therapies. The illegal marketplace has probably been losing prof

Dexie is great, but it's a good idea to understand the lower level before you start leveraging the wrapper for it. I jumped into Tone.js before understanding the Web Audio API, and I eventually regretted it.

I could see they are using three.js for a visual library, but I couldn't tell what they were using for audio. Maybe they are interacting with the web audio api directly, since they are only playing a single piece at a time. I didn'

The older I get the more of a connection I feel with historical images/video/audio. Viewing life on this planet without the constraint of time feels as profound as contemplating the depths of space. It's just out of my reach,
