I recently started using Semantic UI instead of bootstrap, and I felt productive in ~20 minutes. It was amazing. Never going back!

I'm sure this work was groundbreaking , but let's not kid ourselves that imitation is some high and misunderstood form of intelligence. Nor should we kid ourselves that this is new information. The adage "monkey see, monkey d

The point of the comment you’re responding to is that we don’t have very much evidence even for things that make intuitive sense to us. Parent is not saying reading to your kids isn’t good, he’s listing things that many people find intuitiv

I use React daily so wasn't expecting to learn much, but the vids on forms were helpful! Handling form submission can actually get pretty annoying in React if you want to do anything remotely customized. Also love the idea of including

I disagree. The most common way to predict payout is to compare to other companies' exit valuations. E.g. "Oh, company X got acquired for $250 million. We do something similar. If I own .025% of the company, I'd make $62,500

Awesome landing page! What did you use to make it? Also, are you planning on charging in the future? If not, I'm worried support will disappear which makes me scared of investing time into the app ) :

Assuming your monthly expenses are ~$20 (server costs + miscellanae), you’re telling me you have two paying customers at $10/month, and you sank $85k into this??! Cut your losses, friend, and don’t invest any more money into it until y

Could you paste the simple script tag that makes React work without transpilation? I always thought you needed Webpack (or an equivalent) to transpile JSX into a vanilla js function the browser can interpret. If you're referring to Cre

As crazy as this feels to say, ordering a dvd and figuring out a way to consume it in this day and age is a huge ask! I haven’t had a DVD player in my house for about 6 years now & no CD-ROM drive in my laptop. And, again I can hardly

What makes you think that now, rather than all points in history, our "transition from hierarchy to a fully connected network" will work? Seems to me entities made up of many people are organized hierarchically for good reason.

Huh this surprises me. For me, text chat is worse than voice in every way. * Less engaging (eg other person can be browsing HN while we chat with zero risk of me realizing) * Less expressive communication * Greater anonymity, and thus more

You were disputing the “obviously” claimed for US-based engineers. Most of those are based in SF/Seattle/NY. Move the goalposts as you please.

This type of article has been about 5% of the front page for as long as I’ve been in the community (~4 years, lurker for ~3). Yes, maybe it feels obvious. Yes, it’s doesn’t cite a whole lot of evidence. But it resonates with people, and bei

If your app is as good and parent comment’s is as shit as you claim, you shouldn’t have any problem succeeding in the open market. Dare you share the name of your app on HN, or are you afraid of someone taking a big steamy anonymous dump on
