I would love to see work as described in the article leading to the ability to analyse and quantify the output of journalistic outlets in terms of political bias, accuracy and depth of reporting. If we had a tool like this, maybe we'd

For a moment I thought you were calling the Mail "a great paper", but actually the simple language used by it is probably quite good for this purpose. Of course, it does mean that if you ask Deep Mind about the cause of anything n

Yep, foveated rendering. http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/projects/foveateddisplay... Cool stuff, but it needs extremely fast and low latency eye tracking to work effectively. It's not insurmountable, but

Magic Leap is more of an AR solution, like HoloLens, as opposed to VR (as far as anyone can tell, seeing as they haven't demoed anything publicly). Nvidia's light-field stuff seems to be more of a VR solution, but requires even hi

If your layout system's site looks like complete arse on a major browser like IE, your layout system deserves to be ignored.

I'm not a morning person either, but you can always ask the organizer to change the time. If you've agreed to meet at 9, stay true to your word.

There actually hadn't been much research done on it until relatively recently (and probably still not enough), so your dentist was just following the common knowledge of the time. Here's a link: http://www.cochrane.org&

Thank you for sharing your reasons for downvoting, but you're wrong. I did read the article, I do understand their plans and I didn't have a failure of imagination. It's cool tech, and I made a flippant joke in response to so

Flossing is actually less important than most people think. It's far more important to thoroughly brush your teeth, to the extent that most of the time that people spend flossing would be better off used for brushing. Flossing doesn&#x

People have been watching movies at 24fps for so long that they've been trained to put their brains into movie mode and suspend their disbelief when they see something at that rate. There were similar outcries at the advents of colour

I always thought "stirred not shaken" would have fit Bond rather better, not just because it leads to a better drink, but because it could be taken as a statement about his attitude.

You're not comparing like-for-like: Samsung, LG and Microsoft all produce other devices that come with less than 32GB of space. If you need 32GB, Apple provides a device for that (as do other manufacturers). If you don't need that

Escape was probably the weakest of all the MI games and hasn't aged as well Grim Fandango or any of the other MI games due to its art style and the early 3D engine. The Curse of Monkey Island still looks amazing (if low-res), as does F

Yep, HERE is the brand that replaced Nokia Maps, and before that it was Navteq. They're part of the remnants of Nokia - the parts that MS didn't buy. I think they have apps on pretty much all devices now, and now that they are no

I've noticed the same. I get the impression that the stronger the network signal, the better the battery lasts - I assume because the radio has to increase the power with which it communicates with the tower when the signal is weak.

I was once in a car that was pulled over at a speed trap in northern England, and noticed that they had guns on their hips. When asked, the officer said that they manned low-priority things like speed traps the majority of the time that the

This is the sort of tool that will find loads of uses in different areas if it's cheap, portable and flexible. I can imagine engineers using it to examine materials, plant scientists looking at plant growth or builders using it to find
