Depending on the walls, generally at least in my country walls are made of clay bricks, so any hammer drill will work, but if you want to drill too close to the ceiling, or the ceiling you will need something better. I ended up buying a rot

I do have polkit installed, there is an use flag "systemd" that I have disabled and so far I had no problems, it keeps systemd away from my system, and everything works.

As a Gentoo user I can confirm it works well without systemd, using openrc, you can use systemd on Gentoo if you want, I personally avoid it.

Having used it for one or two projects I can say it solves some problems, but creates others, when trying to do more complex stuff it can be a pain (can't remember any specifics it was a few years ago).
