Just something to add going forward. I didn't always have great contracts. After a few hard lessons I've come to include an inflated hourly rate for work above and beyond the scope, a deadline extension. This doesn't leave them much wiggle

I agree. I'm a firm believer that the TV itself should remain fairly stupid while the peripherals get smart. I love that i can hypothetically pop a roku stick into my carry on and make my hotel TV smart for the duration of my stay.
