We worry about the “bus problem” when it comes to one dev operations but should we also worry about the “dev getting bored” problem? I’m not sure what’s happened to Pinboard I hope Maciej is alright. I tweeted him ages ago asking about if t

I’ve tried building in load tests to releases and it’s been a headache so far: Test environments cost as much as prod environments suddenly (using premium versions of infrastructure to meet requirements) Pipelines take a lot longer to run (

I still can’t believe that the Silvertown Tunnel, the next Thames crossing will require a modern version of this rather than have a dedicated cycle space. I appreciate cycling close to cars in a tunnel won’t be pleasant but we are slowly mo

It’s been merged into master [0] I think that means it’s coming with 4. One of my minor concerns is that exporting to iOS/Android might not be coming straight away but I’ll have to play with it to find out! [0] https://githu

Trying to get my Godot project to a stable enough place that I can try early dotnet6 builds. It’s been quite fun abstracting as much game logic as possible into testable class libraries so I’m hoping it won’t be a bad migration for me. Real

I really like Pinboard and Maciej but Pinboard feels forgotten. Even the Pinboard blog URL [0]he linked to in his leaving Twitter tweet[1]is showing the Apache Default page to me. I know there are a couple of good mobile apps for Pinboard b

Stuff like Spotify trying to ram their podcast platform down my throat is pretty obnoxious. I wish I could turn off podcasts. It looks especially bad when some of the podcasts are unofficial audiobooks releasing for instance a person readin

I’ve used laptops for this purpose in the past but I always disliked having my HDDs connected over USB. I was concerned that all my storage felt like it was active all the time even when not being accessed, I was always concerned my drives

Interesting to read in the current context of the Silvertown tunnel currently being built despite complaints from both sides of the river and an admission from TFL that it may make traffic worse south of the river. Not to mention the fact t

So to keep TfL afloat the government has to give them money and as part of that they have to spend a large amount of money investigating something most people don’t think is viable. Seems like a good use of public funds.

I think a lot of malware also gets installed whilst pretending to be something for cheating. Developers don’t want their brand associated with that.

Anything that helps the web export progress sounds like a good idea to me, I think there’s a lot of potential in that feature. Being able to play game demos in the browser before installing the full version if you like it would be nice. But

There are so many adverts for Uber in London now, including buying the naming of the already existing Thames Clipper boat service [1] (previously MBNA Clippers). I think they are worried about the competition and spending a lot to be the fi

It’s amazing how spammers will use every single vector to send stuff to us. I suppose if the cost of sending it is so low they have nothing to lose even when the take up is very low.

I suppose that if you’re upgrading to iPhone and already have one it is a waste to give you yet another charger. I wonder how much energy is used creating these cables that often go straight in a drawer because the previous cable is already

I don’t know if it’s sexism or not but is it possible that Fitbit and Apple Watch aren’t so good at tracking your movement/steps when your arms are stable whilst pushing a pram? I think a lot of the data comes from your vertical moveme

I’m pretty sure all the MacBook feet are exactly the same, certainly the MBP line are. They could store 10000 rubber feet in a pretty reasonably sized box.... I was amazed when two of the feet on my 2014 MBP came off on the same week.

I would imagine a lot of pirated software is taken from versions stolen from creators so there was no original purchase. Also buying second hand is completely different as one second hand DVD can't be shared amongst millions of people.

That makes 0 sense to me. Presumably an author can pick a publisher that does or doesn't distribute to libraries. Even then a library is still buying at least one book if not multiple. If a creator stopped making software you pirated b
