The real value of this, IMHO, is that it makes it much harder to match you against services and in ad platforms. Hashing email addresses is the primary way user data is exchanged.

Without disputing anything in the article, I often see little to no value placed in consistency, simplicity, and repeatability with these kinds of analysis. In this case, I would prefer to manage 1 set/type of hardware for all my uses
