While this does offer some historical significance the cost to maintain old web properties can far outweigh the value in keeping them. I run an 18 year old site and lately I've found quite a lot of relief in removing older features.

I love the way they do it in Taipei. They have attendants at every station where you hand them your card and cash. 2 seconds later your card is updated. It's actually faster than using the machine as there's never a line.
