The problem is GrapheneOS is Pixel only. They are prohibitively expensive, especially in India where the mobile market is very crowded and you get Snapdragon 8s gen 3 for ₹25k.

Yes, the phone can handle the UPI intent. What actually needs to be done is to remove the "default" feature and ask every-time. For finer control (get ₹X off on using Y app), apps can make their own intent.
