Considering that most people cannot tell the difference between a high bitrate MP3 and source, it would seem to me that this will be wasted on most people (myself included). That said, it is nice to have the option.

Aside from ZFS, there is nothing on that list I personally want. And I've never liked mandatory access control - standard UNIX permissions please.

OS/2, Nextstep, and BeOS were all better than Windows (IMO) and none of them succeeded. Some of it was missteps by the OS vendor but not to be forgotten was Microsoft's deals with PC makers that locked out competition.

Maybe this change is more about making sure that ISPs continue to have their own incentive to keep user browsing histories - which in turn can be used as an intelligence data source.

The one thing that stood out to me is the name of former Be employee Travis Geiselbrecht. If you are unaware, he created NewOS, which was forked years ago and became the kernel for Haiku. I didn't realize that he was working for Google

Even though it is listed on Sony's website, none of the vendors on Sony's website has any in stock, and CDW lists it as discontinued as of January 2017. (I checked B&H, Amazon, and CDW.)

Personally, I don't consider using a phone number as reasonable. Usernames should be allowed for those who don't have or don't want phones.

I don't think it is proper to consider Darwin a BSD fork. My understanding is that it is a Mack kernel with elements borrowed from BSD.

With Windows 10, you have no option to avoid updates. With older versions, you might not be able to get them, even if there is nothing CPU or hardware specific about the issue. Microsoft: turning software updates into a weapon.
