They mean to have a static single character on the screen and have it change with every keypress. For example, you type "a" and it shows /. You type "b" and it shows "|", etc.

Every time I see a comment on the state of Tahoe I look wearily at my current install of Sequoia. I'll have to update at some point. But I'll hold out as long as I can...

Editing the post to switch five "it's X not Y"s[1] is pretty disappointing. I wish people were more clear with their disclosure of LLM editing. [1]: https://github.com/andrew/nesbitt.io/commit/0

I see, thanks. I've definitely seen instances where an AP is broadcasting multiple SSIDs with different BSSIDs. I suppose I just thought nothing of it... but that makes sense.

Do most consumer APs/routers allow you to just change the MAC address on the fly? I don't think the ones I've owned have ever allowed that. But that would certainly be interesting to try (if you were somewhere without any oth

The SSID (name, like the article mentions) is different than the bSSID (mac address of the access point), so I don't think it would be that easy to spoof.

I don't like the baseless LLM accusations, but the code comment > // Device wants updates! Store that push token like it's bitcoin in 2010 ...really had me raising my eyebrows. Along with the mixed em-dash and hyphen

don't people typically say to let thoughts pass by when you're doing meditation? seems like bitter medicine to disallow yourself any fleeting thought

Wow, that video is way over the top. It's almost creepy that, as the in-video flight attendant is explaining the safety of the seat buckle, the camera is actively panning away from her to focus on the motion of the ball

can anyone share what the benefit is over using a self hosted repository host over a service like github/gitlab? obviously you get more power over the interface & such but are there truly any gains over using the larger platforms?

For what it's worth, the product demands $50 for what is essentially a < $1.00 3D printed case and a < $1.00 NFC tag. You could probably (not endorsing it!) find the NFC code online and just dump it to a tag of your own.

There's no need for the snark there. I mean 'potential danger' as in the LLM outputting anything inconsistent with reality. That can be as simple as an arithmetic issue.

Can this be potentially dangerous -- e.g. if a user types "The answer to the expression 2 + 2 is", isn't there a chance it chooses an output beyond the most likely one?

I think that's half the fun of it? There's this sort of squeaky clean optimism and hopefulness to it that's just absolutely gone in today's universal design language

Does having it on GitHub not inherently promote it as a sort of aggregator for stuff like it ? Instead of having to search for a forum somewhere, they simply have to look at this cool GH topic, and there they now have ~40 options at their
