    As someone who also does this, I find that the problem becomes not processing the information, but retaining it, and I haven't found a solution to that yet.

    Intern is the new entry level. Once a consulting company told me they'd be happier if I had 2 years of experience because then they could pitch me as a senior engineer. Overall the title inflation and title obfuscation in this industry

    Yes, things should be written in a simple way, but excusing the issues with the program with "Well, the developer should have written it simpler" does not resolve the problem, just shifts the blame.

    I owe my Java career to following a Spring for Beginners course. It did more to accelerate me forwards than, at that point, 2 years of university.
