I guess you could fork it and add support for retro systems. It looks like much of the engine uses fixed-width types (for example, int32_t), so maybe you don’t need to change that code at all.

I actually used an Amiga to browse the web, back in 1994 or 1995. I started with Lynx, but then I switched to a graphical browser (probably Mosaic). This was an Amiga 500 with maxed-out RAM (8 MB) and a hard drive.
