The vast majority of people are only headline readers. They see the title and they go on insane tangents on the subject. Facebook is the worst by far.

Because people want it is the short answer. The way these companies see it, if theres a demand and an opportunity to make money, they go for it. Paired with knowing the GOV will always bail them out, it's a no lose situation.

Id say it's really up to you. Like someone else mentioned, they really made this transition difficult. For example, limiting the amount of conversion tracking you can have to 25 which forces you to use data layer tracking over anything
