This rant reminds me why Linux has limited penetration. Its user base is made up of opinionated users who view compromise along the way to something larger as a moral failure.

We need to go nuclear with the newer type of plants. Built at scale, they are cost effective. Otherwise we are cooked, perhaps quite literally.

As long as we acknowledge that is your perspective, and in my opinion based on 30+ years of experience, is one that is typical. Most people on the data side, enjoy their work and are well paid, perhaps not near FAANG standards, but they do

Your post sounds like it is made by a disgruntled misanthrope. I lead teams of biologists and data scientists and both are part of a vast team, each of us playing our bit part, myself included. If your desire is to be the center of attentio

Again Nick, you don’t understand the nature of the problem. In the vast sea of biology, protein folding is well circumscribed problem. Klaus Schulten’s group and dozens of other groups were already making good progress since the nineties ch

I can’t overemphasize how happy I am that people are taking the surveillance threat that Flock represents seriously. Ordinarily, the “I haven’t done anything wrong so I have nothing to worry about” fallacy tends to dominate the discussion.

From the self-stated bios, this group consists solely of CS guys. No biologist, physicist, linguist, chemist, biophysicist to be found. Based on this observation alone I call nonsense. These is AI bullshittery. These guys aren’t close enoug

I’ve sat through enough city public hearings to know what the author claims isn’t true. People don’t care if the building is gorgeous; they will still oppose it simply because they hate new homes in their neighborhood. If making the buildi

I don’t know why the difference. But if noise is a problem I would suggest buying different nib types and experimenting with those. Amazon has a wide selection, including rubberized ones that will make writing on the iPad nearly silent.

Across a decade, I’ve used a Paperlike on five different iPads ranging from the iPad Mini, standard iPad, iPad Pro, both Gen 1 and Gen 2 Apple Pencils plus other styluses and never once experienced the problems you suggest. I’m making this

Would it make economic sense to strip it down and sell for parts? That’s how it’s done now for older data centers, where the obsolete equipment is sent off to China, stripped down for parts, and sold on the secondary market. I’ve picked up

I can’t decide if you’re ignorant or duplicitous. Go read up on zoning and educate yourself. I don’t have the time to debunk all this nonsense. For instance, it is not generally legal by right to build up to five stories if made of wood. Fa

American zoning forbids taller ~6 story residential building and trades open green space parks for shorter, 1-2 story buildings. The lower density means people are further away from the few parks that do exist too.
