Would be curious to know more about your experience, I mostly use CakePHP, and have minimal experience with Symfony 2 and Laravel, but I always go back to CakePHP.

LESS compiled to CSS, mainly use it because it looks better and I don't have to deal with selector weight, also variables are helpful for colors - and some mixins here and there when necessary

I've had a great experience with CakePHP, with their cake bake tool, you'd be able to generate most of the boilerplate code for your CRUD

Maybe dead in the US, where I live (Morocco), daily deals websites are growing like weed, and many users "discovered" online payment through them, IMO, they're not going anywhere.

"Moving" from a language is a laughable concept for me. As professionals, we tend to work with many constraints in play, and one of them, most of the time, is the language. It's not that the client requires me to use PHP, but not using it
