it can be set up not to do that and it si set up by default not to do that. If its possible (for some elements in specific scenaris it is not)

imho this is sothing inskcape is lacking a lot and lots of needed features are hidden way too much. manly that if you want to create curve and tehn straight line you need to press Shifl+L I made my proposal for improwing this wholl workf

you dont need to do mental math you can chang your bbox calcuations to use geometry preferences- tools - bbox geometry

yeha it seems like upstrem bug . Inscape is porting to 1.4 so hopefully this will be addresed there

yes you can set this in preferences/ tools and set last used style for every tool you want this. or reset your preferences we set this as defoult behaiviour from 1.1

hmm this was never a feature as long i remeber (0.92) so this sounds like a bug that got randomly fixed for you :D

there is multipl ways how to skin a cat . you can single clisk to cahnge color fill. selct object an chose color from pallet down or click on color in info bar that wil open fill and stroke panel
