The kernel might be a polished gem but win32 API? Practical is a term I'd use as win32 has managed to survive to this day but that came with a boatload of hacks and problems. It's ugly.

I write C++ daily and I really can't take seriously arguments how C++ is safe if you know what you're doing like come on. Any sufficiently large and complex codebases tend to have bugs and footguns and using tools like memory safe
