    The mindmap file formats are usually zip archives that contain xml files. These can include relations between the data you might want to export.

    I've found mindmaps to be better tools for saving notes than syntax highlighted text. I currently use the freemium version of XMind, which lacks search and many other features unless you pay. Still a better deal than just text IMO.

    UX trends that become popular tend to get overused, e.g. done badly. Animations, such as in facebook reactions, can definitely look pretty but are also quite hard to design.
