Surf is great if you want one very slim browser for reading and some other fat browser for webapps. I've been really impressed how much more advanced surf is compared to dillo.

Yeah, I occasionally connect a linux laptop on both networks (ipforwarding OFF) with an http port open that exposes my fileserver mounted on the laptop via NFS. If that's too hard, I just pull the hard drives out and connect to my work

There's also a disposable culture around the resources involved. A mentor of mine always says "You can have it, but if you break it then you get to keep both pieces". Without value in the broken pieces, no one needs to clean

You are comparing a force for good in the world to pushing sugar water. Sugar water OBVIOUSLY depends heavily on branding and advertising. Things that are more substantive can and should stand on their own merits.

That makes sense. They are profiling your responses to the captcha, not just checking for the correct answer. They always seem to make me "play" their stupid "find the cars" game a lot longer when I quickly choose them.
