Thanks. I absolutely love the text based game era and tried to work with that limitation, but on a mobile browser. Eventually I want this as a framework for building similar games, but that takes time.

I tried to remake Slay the Spire as a text based game. With buttons though. I used Godot. https://beatquestgames.itch.io/textbattlegd Completely open source if you ask and promise not to make fun of me.

I wouldn't attach myself to it, the community( Amazon employees mostly) are friendly, they'll even offer to help you with any issues you run into. But seriously, no games exist, no real demo projects with it exist. For some reason

I would love this as a Visual Studio or VS Code plugin. Using it as a standalone website looks fun too, can't wait to dig into this !

I really like the idea, but Humble Bundle Choice does this much much better and has been around for well over a decade. With Humble I get Steam keys and I don't have to install another client. I honestly don't see how this busines

Honestly this post is like complaining my new car only has manual windows. Everything else with Unity is pretty easy. I hate Blueprints or any visual scripting. In the long term Blueprints don't build any real skills, and I learned to

Godot has potential, but it’s no where near Unity in terms of ease of use. With Unity I can typically buy an asset for whatever I need, but with Godot I might need to implement it myself. Unity has tons of problems, but better off with the

I vastly prefer code over blueprints, and C# is much easier than C++. I've tried learning Unreal like 3 times. I still can't even get the build chain working

Same, I'm a Unity dev but we desperately need a FOSS option. How is the inspector/menu system compared to Unity.

>C++ and blueprint spaghetti, no thanks Exactly. I enjoy writing my own small tools and slightly modifying some assets. I do hate that much of my current game is a black box since I don't know exactly how the asset actually works. B

It's not a toy if you use Gaia + HDRP. Unity doesn't have as much built in, but the asset store is miles ahead of Unreal's. You can build almost any game you can imagine ( within reason, MMOs are hard) fairly quickly. I am b

One of the coolest tricks during gaming's golden age! I even remember Nintendo power running an article telling people NOT to buy these.

Are you going to develop this project solo? Actually, publishing a game is already a challenge, and adding mod support is a very nice stretch goal. But unless your game is wildly successful, it's very unlikely you'd actually have

How exactly does it boot. If you do something really stupid and somehow fry your SD card in your Raspberry Pi, that's fine because you can always pop in another SD card. I wouldn't want to accidentally burn out the internal storag

I wouldn't be that negative, as long as certain things need to be on prem, we'll always have some people who can get the internet running again. Most of these people just happen to be employed at AWS or azure right now.

It's all good until you remember you have to now higher an entire team to manage your bare metal servers. Companies don't like adding new employees, even when it's comparable in cost to hiring an outside vendor or paying for

Actually this isn't a bad idea, anyway to save on shipping or get a promo code. Once it's shipped, it's 60$ or so venturing close to what a WearOS watch cost ( I'm seeing older ones at 80$ or so)

Good point, assuming I can cancel the order I already made for a P8 watch( one thing I do love about Amazon is canceling is very very easy compared to other retailers )

This is pretty amazing, I'll buy one as soon as possible. Can you modify the OS itself. I want to program a watch that doesn't actually tell time.

Yes, I want to actually make apps for the tracker. Other watches do support this, according to other posts in the thread. However, your use case did spark my interest. Were you running a fitness company or something, was the tracker a key p

That's cool, but I was trying to find a company that publishes it's SDK. Ideally some app examples as well. That said, given how cheap these watches are I'm open to trying anything. Were you able to write your own custom app
