Any amount of carriage returns would still amount to one line. A newline character is needed.

hn.algolia.com used to return a pair of cloudflare IPs: 104.16.46.55 and 104.16.45.55. Requesting hn.algolia.com from these IPs now results in an "Origin DNS error" from Cloudflare. I interpret this to mean that there is another r

I am not sure about that. On my system that openssl invocation fails because the site doesn't staple the intermediate Letsencrypt R3 certificate, and openssl doesn't retrieve it while browsers do. If their system is old enough per

I received one of the phishing messages as well as the follow up / apology. An interesting wrinkle is that both were handled by sendgrid and used the same dkim selector. I would guess that a set of sendgrid api credentials shared with

I received one of these phishing emails, today, and also Namecheap's follow-up/apology. The phony email purported to be from DHL, which really stood out. Both emails were handled by Sendgrid, passing spf, dkim, and dmarc. They app

This would be really interesting as a planning tool. Have you thought about making the start time selectable?

I am confused by this—-aren’t ASICs the costliest option until some (high) number are fabricated and put into use? If FPGAs can implement these changes efficiently—more efficiently than cpu miners—-and be re-synthesized to implement further

I’m glad that 538 share their data. At the end of their articles and ones like them, I’m often left with questions or little threads that just having the data would help me explore. Case in point: after their discussion of the bechdel test,

Ah, interesting observation. I’ll look at changing it to something more like what you’ve suggested. If memory serves, the reason it doesn’t first split the description on white space is that some categories contain whitespace, and would nev

Cool idea. I really enjoy playing with variants of hacker news, like this, and e.g tagger news. I wonder if a diverging color scheme might make the ratios easier to read, at a glance. E.g. a red scale for ratios > 1, and a blue scale for

This article would be much stronger if it referenced a concrete example. The author argues bs is endemic to "quick-flip startups," but then clarifies that many of these startups are actually good-- not bs. but no startups in eithe
