can you tell me a bit more about this? i wanted something like this for a small api i have but ended up using marshmallow to validate jsons against defined schemas which i think is a bit overkill.

if you want to use python together with dialog to build cli menus, i recommend using http://pythondialog.sourceforge.net/doc/ . i've been using it for a project at work and it's very nice!

you can always set them to be regular function keys and use karabiner to override those media keys. that's the setup I have and it's pretty good.
