At first glance I thought he meant it was the C++ of the web by popularity. This will probably be the typical pattern of widely used programming languages. Adding features until it is time to start from a clean slate a few decades later.

- delinka 11y agoAt a quick glance, I can see no byline that might give me a clue as to the correct pronoun of the author. What would you recommend as a neutral pronoun in these cases?

- VLM 11y agoEnglish will be a pro drop language sooner or later, may as well get used to it. Will not be much of a loss (not lack of it). When spoken, inhale during "pronoun break time" and nobody skips a beat. "At first glance I thought meant it was the C++ of the web by popularity"

- psygnisfive 11y agoI wonder if this is a reanalysis of initial clipping. English lets you do some pretty aggressive deletion of initial segments of an utterance, and in many many cases that ends up being just a pronoun.. hmm
