there is a webirc project in the works for freenode if i know correctly, its based on quakenets qwebirc (which is a lot nicer then mibbit, but of course YMMV)

The reason people are moving to the new #startups is not to use mibbit's client (I'm using Colloquy on the Mac), but rather to show solidarity for axod.

        You called him a "homophobe", and I provided a link that shows evidence to the contrary. A link to an article with a comment by you, so I know you've had the chance to read the comments. I stand by my accusation of FUD, and add one of trolling, as well.

        I disagree with his position, but think I was getting this discussion too far away from technology. So yeah, trolling - not intentionally, but in effect yes. So I deleted my earlier comments.

  people are not willingly moving, they are forced to move. So are they showing support or forced to 'show support' ?

    Why the generalisation? You don't speak for me. It's just as easy for me to type /server irc.mibbit.net over /server irc.freenode.net - no forcing involved.

    Nobody's forced to use the new #startups. You could just as easily start #startups2 and sit by yourself.
