Health is obviously first, you have nothing without it. But real joy is wanting to do something, something that is important to you, and being able to. Without desire there is no joy... just a slow countdown.
- Gerard0 12d agoAllow me to join your team. I want and try to do stuff which is important to me and I know there will be problems along the way.
- SA9G 12d agoAnd there is joy in solving problems!!
- ryan_n 12d agoKinda depressing cus that thing used to be coding (or mastery of), which seems to be dying/being replaced by gen ai.
- skulk 11d agoyou can still do it, but it may not be your ticket into a secure (upper?)middle class existence like it used to be.
- SA9G 12d agoCompetition perhaps... but CS has not gone away! There is still joy in doing something well and in learning, even if the market will (perhaps for a time) not reward you well for it. Resist Skynet!!
- Sammi 11d agoPainting, playing the guitar, and pottery making are likely not going to pay your bills either, but no one can stop you having fun doing any of it. In general you get paid for doing stuff that no one one would do without pay, because it isn't fun. So work is less about having fun and more about what kind of suck you tend to be capable of sucking up.
- nerdyadventurer 10d agoHealth affect all others. Also I would love to have a quiet mind, those who do not have it know why.
