That’s a bit like blaming parents for their kids smoking cigarettes. Meta intentionally ignored warnings that bad things were happening as a result of its products, and doubled down on the addictive design.
- senordevnyc 20d agoDepending on the age, that seems entirely appropriate. Imagine, holding parents accountable for the deadly behavior they let their children engage it. That doesn't mean we can't also hold tobacco companies accountable, but it's wild to me to suggest that parents don't bear the bulk of the responsibility here.
- aprilthird2021 20d agoAgain, Doritos are surely addictive and surely the flavoring they put on them, the better they get the more addictive they are. Should they be sued for billions and trillions of dollars for that? At some point it's our job to not give in if things feel nice but are bad for us
