OpenAI's Head of Data Centers Has Left the Company
- ergocoder 23d agoOpenAI-Anthropic is similar to Twitter-Facebook. Twitter was full of dramas at the exec and founder level, and that impacted their execution. Facebook had strong leadership, was very focused, and executed well.
- evanwolf 23d agoFour years to vest anywhere, what's the math to leave so early?
- SnorkelTan 23d agoThe vested shares are unlikely to be worth anything, so they are essentially just working for a salary.
- browningstreet 23d agoOutrageously untrue. So untrue there's a name for it.
- bayarearefugee 23d agoPerhaps everything is fine and this person and the bunch of other recent high profile OpenAI departures just really hate money.
- browningstreet 23d agoThere’s a gulf of possibility between. I’m just disputing the idea they’re working only for paychecks because there are no secondary options for their vested stock.
- twalla 23d agoThere's a fairly liquid secondary market for OpenAI stock - see: Forge, Hiive, EquityZen

- misswaterfairy 23d agoWith a number of high-level departures in recent months from OpenAI, one wonders just how much money they have left. And how close they might be to collapsing... For a company that wants to have a massive IPO that would be worth multi-billions, if not trillions, is this the cue to leave the party before the music stops?
- floro 22d agoThe bubble will burst someday. But I would be careful with predicting when. I have a bunch of extra cash ready to invest in the S&P500 when it finally pops
- QuantumNoodle 23d agoOne year tenure. Yikes.
