- 8note 1mo agoIsrael's PR problem is that social media lets Israelis who are proud of their terrorism, war crimes, genocide, rapes, and torture go talk about how moral it is to murder children. thr Israeli government has a more more challenging job than any other SEO since its adversarial with itself, and has to make sure that no israelis who took part in these great moral wars get included talking about how great and moral it is that they got the top score for children's head shots.

- 8note 1mo agoin order for the clawback to happen, israelis actually have to believe what they are doing is wrong, at least enough to stop gloating about it. Israel still has the public narrative, but its iraelis and not the government that is defining it
- teom 1mo agoWhy tf would Israel, supposedly "surrounded by enemies" need military gains in Lebanon, a sovereign country, or in Gaza, which doesn't even have an army? By "it has to" you mean that the only way to keep their narative afloat is to try to manipulate public opinion?

- Dig1t 1mo agoThis is why having many options for models is so important. If we end up in a world where there’s only 2 AI providers because of “safety”, we will have a deeply dystopian situation where the truth is based on whoever controls or is able to manipulate the AI’s best.

- skeledrew 1mo agoThis kind of thing was always bound to happen, and it's nicely helped along by the other side that somehow has the many who are against AI accessing their content. So narratives will eventually become extremely skewed over time as entities with an agenda push propaganda for AI to scoop up while the other side does it's best to block/poison said AI. Eventually that propaganda becomes the undisputed "facts" for the increasing many doing research with AI.
- manyaoman 1mo agoAt first I thought this sounds silly and basic sockpuppeting or Wikipedia editing would give better ROI. However, on the other hand this might be more subtle and therefore cause less blowback (ie. fewer people noticing and being annoyed). Pretty clever.

- thevinter 1mo agoThe genocide in Gaza is one of the biggest humanitarian catastrophes of recent times. One might argue that it's OT and I'm ready to entertain the idea (even though in this case I think the post is heavily HN-adjacent) but surely the size of the country doesn't mean anything in this context? Personally, I find raising awareness on the topic in a respectable manner a valid and worth form of activism.
